Cannon Mountain
Cannon Mountain in the Fauconia State Park is a must-visit for skiers, rock climbers, and mountaineers. A cable car that can accommodate 80 people will take us to the top of Cannon Mountain 2,000 feet above the ground to enjoy the beautiful scenery of the mountains. There are hiking trails and an observation deck on the top of the mountain for viewing the scenery. The view here is wide and refreshing.
Old Man of the Mountain Profile Plaza
The Old Man of the Mountain Plaza is one of the most famous natural rock formations in the country. This rock formation, which resembles a human figure, was once the most famous landmark in New Hampshire. The plaza includes seven steel "contour meters" that recreate the face of the old man looking down at Franconia Pass.
The Basin
The New Hampshire Basin is one of the most iconic scenic spots in the White Mountains. It is a must-see for anyone crossing Franconia Pass for the first time and deserves repeated reverence from locals. The young Pemigewasset River forms a series of delightful and powerful waterfalls as it rushes out of the canyon. With more force and volume than a typical mountain stream, the river has eroded the bedrock to create a variety of fascinating waterfalls and pools, making it a treasured attraction for state residents and visitors. Viewing the Basin requires little effort, requiring only a short hike along a series of paved gravel trails that provide ample opportunities to view the waterfalls.
Mount Washington Cog Railway
The world's first mountain cog railway opened in 1868 and is still the second steepest railway in the world. There are buildings such as the Mount Washington Observatory and the Mount Washington Television Transmitter on the top of the mountain. Visitors can overlook Canada in the north and the Atlantic Ocean in the east from the top of the mountain, as if the whole world is in sight. In late autumn, the red maple leaves all over the mountain are like burning bonfires, which are dazzling and eye-catching.
